WordPress Bad

One answer I get when I talk about wordpress.com is that it’s not customizable, bad for SEO and eCommerce, and above all expensive.
Expensive it is when compared to wordpress.org, why the bad treatment when both are running on WordPress. Then why a wordpress.com and .org site.
Please clear my doubt if I have an affiliate website on wordpress.com what are my chances of doing the affiliate and earning an income? Because it seems the tools are limited in wordpress.com as compared to big brother wordpress.org?
Why in the first place is wordpress.com running?
Is wordpress.com good for a beginner blogger like me who can later monetize the site?
Can there be discounts on registrations?

  • Hi there!

Having a self-hosted website that uses the WordPress software is not quite the same as having a website hosted on WordPress.com.

WordPress.org refers to the open-source software, which requires self-hosting and self-management. WordPress.com is a platform that is optimized for the WordPress software; it includes managed hosting and provides many additional benefits for security, speed, and support.

When you choose to self-host, you become responsible for your own backups, maintenance, security, and site performance, as well as theme and plugin compatibility. If you feel comfortable handling these aspects, it could be a good option for you.

Meanwhile, WordPress.com takes care of all these developer operations in the background, so you can focus on building your website. Once you sign up with WordPress.com, you will be ready to build your website immediately, without the need for any server-side configurations.

WordPress.com also offers the benefits of the open-source software, plus managed hosting as a fully integrated SaaS (Software as a Service) solution. This means you will have access to the power and scalability of the latest version of WordPress, plus superior hosting speed, automated backups, and security features on our platform.

We also provided this guide that helps compare WordPress.com and self-hosting here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/.
