Ads have been appearing on WordPress.COM sites since 2006.
Unless you purchase a Personal plan http://wordpress.com/pricing or a higher level Premium or Business Plan there will be ads placed by WordPress.COM on your site.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/If next to the ads you see this small About These Ads link then what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising. http://en.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/

Hello timethief, I am not sure what to do with so many links shared by you. Any of the links you shared is not relevant. I can’t be sure of what you are trying to tell me here. Did you take a look at the problem I described?
I haven’t said anything about the advertisements on my site or theme setup or site setup. I want to remove the banner at the top of each and every page on my site. which says “Create your website at WordPress.com Get started”. It has put my site in a kind of iframe.
Are you able to help me with this problem? If not, then please do not share any irrelevant link.
-
I am telling you that if you that if you use the set up instructions for your theme at https://wordpress.com/theme/dara the “Create your website at WordPress.com Get started” will be gone.

@ranchiexpress
Note that the tags you entered are irrelevant. The ones I posted are on point. I have answered questions here for 12 years.Have you tried using live chat support?

I just tried with three themes on my site but the banner is still there. I am sure there would some some other setting to remove the banner on the site. I have no questions about the ads on my site. I know the free sites will display advertising from WordPress.com.
All sites with upgraded plans like yours include access to live chat support.
What made you thing that I am no a upgraded plan? I am on a free plan. That explains what kind of answers you provide here.
This is the support forum for those who have the wordpress.COM free plan.
Do you want to say that any WordPress.com user on a paid plan can not ask questions in this support forum? That’s really strange that WordPress will limit paid customers to a particular support channel.
I have answered questions here for 12 years.
I can see what kind of answers you have given here :)

I’m sorry if my answers are not what expect. You can, use live chat support to contact Staff as you have an upgraded account.

If you do not have an upgraded site then you ca n use support docs that I linked to above.

Dear timethief, will you please stop replying unnecessarily here?
Can you access my WordPress.com account to know which paid plan I am on or if I am on a paid plan at all or not? FYI, I am on a free WordPress.com plan and not on a paid plan so this is the correct place for me to get support from WordPress.com.
If you can help me, I would be grateful to you. If not, please do not post any further in reply to my question.

Is “Create your website at WordPress.com Get started” only visible if you are looking at your site when logged out of WordPress.com? That is when I see it on your site. Although I don’t see it on my site I think it may be something new to try and get visitors to sign up for their own WordPress.com sites. So it won’t be something you can remove.
-
Yes themagicrobot, this is something that I see when logged out of WordPress.com.
Not sure why WordPress will add this on top of the footer branding and the advertisements on the site :(

if you upgrade to the Personal plan from the free plan specifically to remove adverts does this new banner still remain or does it go?
Do you mean it’s another ploy from WordPress.com to force users on the free plan to pay for the upgrade?
-
No one is forced to do anything. Free sites cost us nothing but they do cost WordPress.com something. The adverts help to recover some of those costs.
Much depends on the reasons for having a WordPress.com site. If I was creating a site to promote my business I would think it worthwhile in upgrading to the Personal plan to remove ads. -
I have no problem with the advertisements on my site or with WordPress branding at the bottom of the site. My problem is the top banner which makes my site look unprofessional. This puts the complete site in a kind of frame. If this banner scrolls up with the page, then also it’s acceptable.

Thanks for the assist. I thought the reference was to a dashboard notice. I logged out and visited the site and noted exactly what ranchiexpress stated. The “Create your website at WordPress.com Get started” message and link appearing above the theme are news to me. I strongly suspect that cannot be removed on a free hosted site. Staff will confirm whether or not upgrading to the Personal Plan (or another upgraded plan) will remove it from a free plan site.
@ranchiexpress
I humbly apologize for wasting your time. I had no idea that the Marketing Staff had posted that message and link above themes. Sorry. -
Timethief, no need to apologize but please think and understand the question completely before trying to help. That would save all of us time and efforts.
-
Hi there,
That banner now appears on new free sites to logged out visitors, yes. The banner can be removed by the No Ads upgrade that is included in all our paid plans.
