WordPress Banner on top of my blog

  • This puts the complete site in a kind of frame. If this banner scrolls up with the page, then also it’s acceptable.

I’ve passed this feedback along to our marketing team.

Wow! So as well as obliterating our sites with ads, pushing our content aside for HUGE ads below our content and in the side bar, that Google are blocking, and it IS affecting how Google crawl despite the lies from staff here, we also have an ad now in the header too? Still trying to force people to upgrade. I’d rather go elsewhere. Don’t worry, I won’t slam the door on the way out.

I’ve passed this feedback along to our marketing team.

Thank you, Sir. Can there be an option to choose between the advertisements on the site or the marketing banner on the top?

timothyofyork, there are no free lunches. If you are looking for one then this site is not for you.

  • @ranchiexpress

Can there be an option to choose between the advertisements on the site or the marketing banner on the top?

That’s unlikely, as those are two different things, but I’ll add it to the feedback.

“That banner now appears on new free sites to logged out visitors”.
Ain’t that somethin’. “New free sites”, so, how’s that going to bring new folks to become “users” as Wordess refers to its *members*? It isn’t going to, is the answer, because everyone wants to be treated equally, and many of us, like myself, have been with WordPress for over 10 years, with different URL names of the blogs, so many of us aren’t “new free sites” folks, we’re the ones who added content that eventual made WordPress the large comany that it is now. Big thanks, hey?!

Tell Matt, who used to answer questions himself in the old days because he was just getting started, that I had my last blog, Lifestream, suspended (and then reinstated) due to a fake wanna be guru called [redacted by staff] (his real name is [redacted by staff]) — all over fake copright claims by himself and his brother who own a sleazy dress comany that, my copright photos were their company’s copright photos, this, with absolutely no proof, and in the end, justice sort of won, because his claims proved that they had no merit.

The photos of the model with the red dress and red coat were indeed my photos that I took with a Fuji camera. However, I wasn’t just harassed by having my blog suspended by the obese in all was wanna be, self-appointed “guru”; he also had his “inititates” and employes leave messages on my ‘Contact’ page, to get a hold of them. When I did get a hold of them, it was always the same message: call me (phone number provided), then when I did call, the message was, “You are in extreme danger, as is your family, no one is allowed to publicly, on social media, criticize the “Master.”

And, in my personal life, I was stalked and harrased by his “initiates” who would even come to my home and knock on my door on Christmas Day! With the same spooky, and totally frightening message. So, I became so terrified for my safety, and the safety of my family, that I eventually caved in and did the bidding of the fake guru, that being, I deleted my beloved poetry blog, Lifestream, so that I would no longer be harrased online and in my private life. Guess what? It worked. The stalking and harassment stopped. No one is hassling me in my private life, nor sending me emails concerning the self-appointed “Sant” / “Guru”.

This brings me to why I am furious about the adds at the top of my blog when signed out, all I wanted was to have a poetry blog again, and have no content about the fake guru.

In fact, I used to have a blog on WordPress with 6,782 “followers”, however, I decided that I didn’t like having people follow my blog, so I deleted that one (becuse if I removed everyone, which I did try, folks would just sign back up again. I feel free to write poetry only when there is no audience — as in “followers”, thus, I deleted the WordPress blog that had the “followers”) and asked a fellow who owned the blog, Lifestream, if he would be willing to transfer the blog into my name since he hadn’t used it in over 10 years. He said, yes, I’d love to, and he did transfer the blog to me. I love it! I was able to use the “Sundance” theme (which is now no longer available for free “users”), and simply put: I just loved writing poetry and posting it, sharing it with various friends and family if I thought the poem might have meaning for them.

All was well until I discovered that the “guru”that I had been following was a fraud, and his brother that he is in business with is a self-confessed criminal (he’s a pedohile), and, that [redacted by staff] was not only silencing this fact, he also silenced anyone who exposed what he did for a living. So, I wrote poems to go along with all the evidence that I discovered about the fake “Sant”. And, victims wrote poems that they sent to me, which I also posted.

What does this have to do with my fury that my new poetry blog has the obscene advertising? …I’m not a a new “user”. As I said earlier, the only reason that WordPress is as large a company as it is now, is due to folks like me who added free content, a lot of work, and our hearts and souls into this blogging venture.

Everyone wants to be treated equally, it’s enough that WordPress has advertisements at the bottom of posts, to want more than that from new folks to WordPress, is unbalanced, because everyone wants and needs to be treated equally. To reward this folks who’ve been here longer (and don’t forget, many “newcomers” are folks who blogged here before), I think it’s fair, nor is it morally, or legally correct.

Kindly remove the obnoxious advertisement for WordPress at the top of my poetry blog when not signed in.

I will not be bullied into buying premium services (which I have purchased before), because of your new policy. And in fact, I’d like to go .com — etc., however, this new policy prevents me from being willingly doing so.

Wordpress should be an exciting place to be that makes folks want to buy premium services, not be bullied into it by a header that’s in one’s face when logged out with adds for WordPress.

  • Unknown's avatar

No replies. Why am I not surprised? …I don’t have premium services.
Reminds me of the famous words of George W. Bush: “Welcome, haves and have mores!”

I won’t be staying if WordPress does nothing about this greedy new policy, because I would still have a blog that I absolutely loved, with no obnoxious adds at the top of my blog, Lifestream. However, because WordPress responded to an allegation of copyright infringement—with absolutely no evidence as it says there must be in the copright laws, i.e., time, place, and where the alleged “original” material can be found, yet, WordPress suspended my blog, and later reinstated it when I proved that my photos were my own and thus I had the copyrights. So, the fake guru was emboldened and went on to stalk me via his initiates on the top internet and via my personal life, until, I deleted Lifestream.

Now,I am in a position to take legal action against both the fake guru, [redacted by staff], and WordPress, because of the takedown that had no merit, however, if I did do that (take legal action), I would be back in the exact position that I was in when the fake guru had his initiates threaten me and my family.

I take threats seriously, when I’m told if you continue this exposure of the true nature of a self-proclaimed guru, you are in mortal danger, as is your family, thus, I will never take any legal action that involves the fake guru, I prefer me and my family living to being “dead right”.

I did a post about the adds on WordPress:

Here is one of the photos that show the obscene adds when signed out, they are the dominant image that sears into one’s brain and the rest of the content is hard to focus on:

  • Unknown's avatar

    Two more examples:

As one can clearly see: the WordPress adds dominate the posts visually, and they continue on when scrolling.

  • Unknown's avatar

The Marketing Bar is the only WordPress.com advert I see on your site when logged out. (Many sites have two adverts below each post and one in a sidebar as well). Isn’t that a price worth paying to be able to share your poetry with the whole Interweb for free?

  • Unknown's avatar

No. It’s due to my settings, I know a few things about Wordess that most folks don’t know: if one chooses: “discourage search engines to access this site”, then all the adds disappear with no charge from WordPress, however, it does also potentially limit the traffic to one’s site because it is true what the box says: no search engine will show the site and traffic will not come via search engines. But, I had this setting set the same on my WordPress blog, Lifestream, and had no adds on the top and would now if I still had my beloved blog, had WordPress not emboldened the fake guru by suspending my blog with no merit, which resulted in stalking, etc., and, in the end of day, I did get my blog back, however, the stalking and threats didn’t end until I deleted my beloved poetry blog, Lifestream.

What part don’t you get? WordPress (who bloggers like me helped build into the enormous comany it is now, added all the content with hard work, and out hearts and souls into our little blogs that gave Matt and Wordess the opportunity that then, get big companies on board that pay hefty prices for the services we made possible for free via our blogging efforts), and I’m one of those first 1,000 or so bloggers. And, I would still have a blog with no adds anywhere (due to my settings) and the the fab “Sundance” theme that went so great with my poetry and personalized fonts and colours via knowing HTML code, if it wasn’t for Wordess emboldening the fake guru to threaten to sue me and do a take down order over alleged copyright and infringements (with not a shred of evidence), and, I’m not even in a position to take legal action against the fake guru (I still have all the evidence saved), nor WordPress, because the fake guru is too spooky to take on legally: he’s a billionaire with veered high level connections, including the Mob (I’m not being dramatic, I have evidence), it’s why he will silence me at any cost.

Ask the legal team here at WordPress (I had months of negotiations with WordPress and the fake guru’s lawyer, [redacted by staff]), and it ain’t pretty what was disclosed about [redacted by staff]. Eventually, WordPress did reinstate my blog, however, as I said before, that didn’t free me from the demon “guru”, until I deleted my blog.
And I’m even terrified of this thread, because he owns another company called “[redacted]” which is a high-tech company that is a gold partner of Oracle, and is involved in the kind of work Edward Snowden exposed, so I am sure, he will hear about this thread which I do have hesitation about posting because it puts me and my family in harm’s way, again. But, do to it being public, and I say that I am a victim of harrament and stalking by [redacted by staff] (via his “enforcers”, who are mind controlled “initiates” — and many are on his comany payroll, I will add), I hope that with this being a public place, that it will provide me with some safety due to the fact that if me or my family does get targeted by him or his demon, pedophile brother — whom he is in business with, there will at least be a public record of the danger, if me or my family were to get injured or assassinated.
Like I said, check with the legal department at WordPress, and you will see that the freak who calls himself a “guru”, is actually a criminal.
btw, the email that I had all the communication with WordPress and Giana was [email redacted] (which I also deleted when I deleted my blog, however, I kept all the evidence and corespondences that went on with WordPress and Giana).

So, I want my blog, Lifestream, back (because all content would be deleted so the fake guru can’t wail about being exposed for the criminal that he and his brother are — with total evidence, not my word, but real evidence), or, remove the obnoxious adds on my new blog.
Otherwise, I’m leaving WordPress (who ought to apologize to me for suspending my blog with no merit, and, that I’m not even going to take legal action over the matter).

The topic in this thread is the banner ad that WordPressdotcom runs on free sites to help offset the cost of providing free sites and all methods for removing WordPressdotcom ads from our sites have been mentioned previously in this thread, so I’ll go ahead and close it.

If anyone find that this ad covers their site content, please take a screenshot and upload it to your site’s Media Library. Then please open a new thread at https://wordpress.com/help/contact and mention the site you need help with.

    Cheers all.

  • Thanks for following up on this one justjennifer.
