WordPress bar showing on free website?
-
Hello everyone,
I’ve created this website: http://www.het-verhaal-van.nl/, but the “create your own site” bar keeps showing at the top, even when I’m not logged in to WordPress.com:
I don’t have a paid WordPress account for this website, so I get that the logo is showing at the bottom of the page, but I don’t understand why the bar at the top keeps showing. I have created multiple websites with a free WordPress account and they all don’t have said bar at the top: http://www.spoorwegentv.nl/ & http://www.boerengatkleinestad.nl/
Is there any way to get rid of it without getting a paid WordPress account?
Thanks in advance!
René

Hi there, I don’t see the bar when logged out in an incognito window, but I suspect that that is also WordPressdotcom advertising. If so, the only way to remove it would be to upgrade to at least a personal account. https://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/
I also noticed that you are forwarding and masking your domain name, which can cause problems not only with search engines, but also cause problems with themes. If you purchase the Personal plan, you also receive a domain credit which you can use to properly map your domain. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

There was a rather long-winded thread about the “create your website at WordPress.com” message a few weeks ago where, after a few puzzled volunteers had tried to assist, a staff member eventually confirmed that it can only be removed by upgrading to a paid plan.

@themagicrobot – thanks for that link with the staff reply.
(Between various holidays and dog-sitting my granddogger, I’m very behind in my reading.)
