WordPress blog search is not working

blog at http://digitallyzen.wordpress.com is having issues with search. using a stock free theme. When I try to search for anything that is evidently on the site, nothing comes up, other than a not found message. For instance if i try to find ‘cancun’ in the search field (top righthand corner beside my name) comes up as: 0 results for cancun from digitallyzen.wordpress.com. there are posts with cancun in either title or content of post. what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for your kind assistance.

Your blog took such a long time to load that I quit waiting for that to happen.

The WordPress.com search engine indexes post, pages, and comments content (body text). Unless entered as text in those contents, blog name, post titles, and post/comment author names are not indexed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpresscom-search/

Thanks for the reply. Can’t do much about the load times since it’s hosted with WordPress, and I am using a free theme. I don’t have issues with load times and I am on a slow connection from a third world country ;)

But your explanation might actually mean something, since all search terms used reflected only post titles. I checked on body text and I can confirm that the search does work. Thanks for your expert assistance. Will try to close this support instance.

    Hi there,
I’m glad I was able to help re: wordpress.com search.

Note that I am in Canada on a dedicated DSL line that has only this computer on it.

Your website is faster than 53% of all tested websites.

That would not make me happy at all. I would immediately read that report and act to reduce the page loading time.

These are the ways to reduce page loading time:
    1. Edit posts and insert “the more tag” so only excerpts appear on the fort page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

    2. Reduce the number of posts appearing on the front page here > Settings > Reading
Blog pages show at most _ posts

    3. Reduce the number of images and or media embeds displayed and/or make them smaller.

    4. Reduce the number of widgets in the sidebar and footer areas.

Tested it just now and here’s the result:

I guess it depends from where the test originates from. Dell.com came in at 53% :)
