WordPress blog search results on google??
-
When I search for my blog (http://agent503.com) on google, I don’t get a very structured search result. What do I need to do to have get a structured result, like IBM http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ibm&btnG=Search

They’ve been in business since, I believe, 1923. They helped DESIGN the internet. Their homepage has more Googlejuice than Wikipedia. Perhaps you should choose somewhat more modest goals.

I just used them as an example. I have seen similarly structured search results for other wordpress blogs and was wondering how this is achieved. How do I get google to structure my results?

Just write regularly, use categories and tags for your posts and your pics, and sooner or later you’ll build up some sort of ranking. It shouldn’t be the goal of blogging, imho.

You can’t use meta tags here. And what you see for IBM is not indexing of one site; it’s indexing of many thousands of sites which REFER to IBM. Look at the first results: IBM International and IBM UK, two separate websites. If you’re talking about a WordPress.com blog, please provide examples.
You get better-structured search results when you search not for a blog name, but for a SUBJECT; that is the #1 reason the IBM results are structured the way they are. If you search for a subject on which you and only you have blogged, you’ll see similar results, provided you’ve made many posts on that subject. You can see an example of this here:

and in re: to Ian’s point, I’ve been blogging here for two and a half years, been using the name “raincoaster” online for fifteen or so, have over three thousand posts here at WordPress.com alone, not counting the forum and comments on other blogs.

You’re talking about what Google calls “Sitelinks.” Google creates them whenever they decide to do it, and I’m not aware of any way to influence the process. A Google search on the name of my blog, “The Sensuous Curmudgeon” shows about six Sitelinks. I don’t know when Google started doing this for my blog, or why, and some of those aren’t the topics I would have chosen. It’s all up to them. My guess is that if you get a lot of Google-driven visits to your blog, it’ll happen, but there’s no way to know when.
