WordPress – built in analytics

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello – I have been using bit.ly to share my wordpress articles via Twitter. It appears that these clicks are not translated to wordpress analytics (no Google analytics plug in installed). Is there a way to count this traffic? Even using a different link shortener or redirect service?

Thank you so much for your time and assistance!

  • Hi there,

Did you know that Twitter has their own link shortening service? Whether you post a bit.ly link to Twitter or whether you post the full URL, it will always use 23 characters in a tweet, so there is actually no benefit to using any link shortener on Twitter any more.

If you just post the regular link to Twitter the referrer stats on WordPress.com will show traffic from that source, but we’re not able to determine the source of the traffic if it is being routed through another service like bit.ly between Twitter and us.
