WordPress business & conversion goals
-
We are considering the Business version of wordpress.com so we can get Google Analytics. My question is, can we use the Google Analytics Conversion Goal functionality? Is there a way to assign a ‘thank you’ page for completed contact forms?

I answered you yesterday in this thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-business-conversion-goals?replies=2#post-2572545

Actually, you told me to send a message to support@wordpress.com, which I did. But then i got an email instructing me to post my question to wordpress.com/help/contact, which I then did. And that created this post. So…thanks. I guess. Still looking for answer to my question though.

That’s very strange. https://wordpress.com/help/contact is for live chat support. I typed modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. Yes, you should be able to use the Goal Conversion functionality in Google Analytics.
Google Analytics includes advanced features to complement WordPress.com stats. Funnel reports help you track the path visitors take through your site, and goal conversion lets you measure how visitors complete specific tasks (such as reaching a product page or contact form). If you already use Google Analytics with other projects, you’ll be able to see all your stats in one place.

Thanks, but I actually saw this too. Its says “reaching a product page or contact form”. That is actually pretty useless from a conversion standpoint. You want to know that someone has actually completed the form, so it’s usually the thank you page that you want to be able to track. In the Basic version of WordPress.com the form “thank yous” are done through AJAX loading in the same page, so no actual thank you page loads. This won’t work for Google Analytics.

So, I suspect that WordPress.com’s integration of Google Analytics won’t do what you are looking for. You can set up conversion tracking for pageloads but cannot embed more nuanced event tracking, like contact form submissions.
You might be better served by setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org site:
