WordPress Business Plan Questions
-
We have some questions and we can’t find anyway to get them answered…
– How much traffic/bandwidth do we get with the WordPress Business account?
– For DNS setup do we just point our main domain to WordPress?
– What level of Admin access are we given if we purchase this plan?
– Can we use DreamWeaver?
– Does the site sit on top of MySQL?
– Are we given any access to the MySQL tables directly?
– What level of Up/Down time are we guaranteed with this plan?
– If we purchase the WordPress Business plan and build our Main website with the WordPress branding removed, are we also able to have a blog (with Branding removed)?
– If we buy a year of this hosting are we able to cancel at anytime? if we decide it’s not for us after a few months can we get a refund for the remainder of time we have left?
These are some questions we have and there seems to be no way to contact WordPress to ask basic questions. Nor does the plan listed on the site give any information.
The only way to contact and ask basic questions is to pay for a plan first which seems a bit odd.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello @gamefloptv !
– There is no bandwith limits as mentioned here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/
– For DNS setup, you can use this information: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
– The level of access you receive with the plans you mentioned above can be found here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
– The site is connected clearly to a database but you don’t have access to make edits to it
– You can find more about the uptime just by searching “uptime” on this page: https://vip.wordpress.com/stats/
– Branding removal comes with the package you buy (available for Personal, Premium or Business)
– Here is the information on refunds if needed: https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/

Thanks for answering most of my questions, one thing though the level of access question. The link you provided does give some very generic descriptions of what I’m getting. My question was more about the type of access, while most hosting platforms provide a customer portal, access to the DB, access to use programs such as DreamWeaver and make custom edits to the site. A file repository with FTP access, a cPanel, etc. What am I getting regarding Admin access with a WordPress Business Plan? Do I get anymore access than the basic blog editor that comes with free accounts?

Can I edit HTML and coding on the theme I’ve chosen for my site? Or is it just basic modification access?
-
Sure! Depending on the plan you will choose, that will give you more advanced access compared to the cheaper one.
Unlimited premium themes, advanced design customization, site monetization options, bigger storage space or full customer support on any need you might have with the site are only some of the advantages of the premium plans.
I highly suggest you would go here (https://vip.wordpress.com/contact/) and complete the form.

Does Customize let me edit HTML?
No. Customize allows you to edit fonts, colors, and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup or PHP code. If you require this functionality, please consider moving your blog to a web host that supports theme code modifications. You can read more about why here http://support.wordpress.com/code/, and find a suitable host here. http://get.wp.com/hosting/From the relevant support doc at https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

Hi there,
We don’t provide any FTP access on WordPress.com, so you cannot access your site’s files directly. On the Business Plan you can use a plugin to inject custom code into your site’s files if needed, but you should also be aware we don’t provide help with custom code and can only provide limited help with third party plugins. Consequently it’s also not possible to edit the site database directly here.
If you specifically want the ability to edit your theme, while we don’t allow editing the theme files on your site, you can download the theme and create a child theme which you can then upload instead. This is considered best practice in WordPress theme customization in any case for anything beyond basic CSS tweaks.
cPanel is a specific interface only used by some hosting providers, and not the only hosting admin interface that can be used with WordPress sites. On WordPress.com all server-side configuration is done automatically, though, so there’s no need for such an interface on WordPress.com. If you need that type of control over your site, then we are not the best fit for hosting your site.
WordPress.com is intended as a hosting solution for people who don’t know about server setup or direct database manipulation, but still want a fully functional WordPress site. We know it won’t be enough for people who want or need more complete control, and we’d rather you get to a hosting provider that’s the best fit for your needs if that’s the case. You can see the link @timethief gave above for some hosting providers we recommend in that case.
