-
Helo, sorry for distribut, but I can’t find anywhere the trusted answer:
I will purchase:
– WordPress Business Plan,
– 1 domain at domain.ch (e.g.: http://www.myowndomain.ch) and
– 1 host at fasthosting.ch1.) Can I later export the new created wordpress website to fasthosting.ch server, and use the http://www.myowndomain.ch domain?
2.) can I later modify the site via WordPress Business Plan, and update the new version from wordpress.com to fasthosting.ch ?
3.)
Where and what I need to purchase for e-mail service in this case? e.g.: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
@ wordpress.com?
@ domain.ch?
@ fasthosting.ch?
Best Regards,

Hi there,
I will purchase:
– WordPress Business Plan,
– 1 domain at domain.ch (e.g.: http://www.myowndomain.ch) and
– 1 host at fasthosting.chTo clarify, the Business Plan includes site hosting, so you would not technically need to purchase hosting elsewhere. Our business hosting is included in the cost you see here:
1.) Can I later export the new created wordpress website to fasthosting.ch server, and use the http://www.myowndomain.ch domain?
Yes you can export your site any time you wish. https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/
2.) can I later modify the site via WordPress Business Plan, and update the new version from wordpress.com to fasthosting.ch ?
It may help to understand why you would need to do this. Is it your plan to use the site here on WordPress.com as the “staging site” and then update the site with the other provider?
Our export tool is good for one-time moves but we do not have a way to create a connection to other sites so that you can “push” updates. For that you may want to consider a host with integrated staging (for both the live site and the staging site) and for that we recommend Pressable. You can learn more about how the handle the connection between live sites and staging sites here: https://pressable.com/knowledgebase/how-sites-staging-websites-and-website-clones-work-at-pressable/
3.) Where and what I need to purchase for e-mail service in this case? e.g.: (email visible only to moderators and staff) @ wordpress.com? @ domain.ch? @ fasthosting.ch?
Professional email is not included on the Business Plan, but you can add it by following the steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/adding-professional-email-to-your-site/

Thanks for reply,
“To clarify, the Business Plan includes site hosting”
yes, but hosting http://www.mysite.ch. domain is not allowed, not listed here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/
“so you would not technically need to purchase hosting elsewhere.”
I technically need to purchase hosting http://www.mysite.ch in the country of the business
“why you would need to do this”
sorry for misunderstanding:
I will use wordpress.com just for
– creating 1 website with plugins (private, never public @ wordpress.com => because wordpress.com is the most user friendly most safe place for create website)
– testing the website (private, never public @ wordpress.com)
– copy the working, tested version to swiss located host, and go public on swiss located host
– create new elements,pictures,post (private, never public @ wordpress.com)
– update this new modifications to swiss located host -

The domain registration cannot be completed via WordPress.com – we do not have
.chdomains as available to register:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/However what can be done on WordPress.com is:
- Register the
.chdomain via your preferred domain provider - Use a Business plan on WordPress.com for hosting
- Connect the
.chdomain, using the following process:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/connect-existing-domain/
With regards to using the WordPress.com Business plan for your site testing purposes, this could absolutely be an option, but it seems like it may not necessarily be the most convenient for you. Pressable, which my colleague staff-totoro mentioned above, does have the option of both staging (testing) and live sites together!
We do also have a couple of suggetions for testing purposes here – perhaps they can be useful even while you are hosting your WordPress.org public site with a Swiss company in particular:
