WordPress Business Plan-Themes will not activate

  • Unknown's avatar

I recently purchased the Business Plan and want to activate the ‘Fortune Theme’. I have tried multiple times to activate the theme and it does not activate/populate my website. Why won’t this work? I have watched multiple videos and done exactly what they do in order to get the theme going on my site, but it still isn’t working.

I have also sent a support request for help and 2 messages on the live chat pluggin, but no one from WordPress has responded and it has been a couple days.

Very frustrated and dissapointed in the WordPress support for new users. Where is the best place to go and get help as quickly as possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I just tried visiting your site sideskirtads.com & found “Fortune Theme” is currently active on your site.

I would recommend you to please try visiting your site from any other device to confirm.

Please let me know if you still facing the issue.

    Thanks!

When you visited the site was it populated with the content of the “Fortune Theme” or was it a blank site that said the theme was active? When I visit my site from other devices it is a blank website that just says SideSkirt Ads.

I am new to this, but my understanding is that when I activate a theme it should make my website appear the same as that theme. I have not created any content on my site yet and was going to use the “Fortune Theme” and essentially replace the theme content with my own. My expectation is that when I activate a theme everything from that theme that I see when clicking “live demo” should be what then appears on my website and it is then up to me to change and edit content to customize the template.

Is this the way themes are supposed to work?

    Hi there,

I just revisited your site to confirm things and found about and contact page have some pre-loaded content.

The reason why you are not able to see anything because site does not have any post yet. The theme you see in the demo is to give an idea how your content will look like if you use this theme however once you activate the theme it will be activated on your posts, it won’t create any dummy post.

Yes, I recommend you try to create a new blog post for your site by following the below steps:

You can start creating post by clicking the “Write” button on the right side of the toolbar at the top of your screen or by clicking on My Sites, then on Add next to “Blog Posts.” This will create a draft post on your blog and open up the post editor.

In the top field, insert a title for your post & in the large area below the title, write your post. To add more interest, use the formatting buttons, which you may recognize from a word processor.

Here is the step by step guide to help you to write your post: https://learn.wordpress.com/get-published/

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

  • @tarunvijwani is correct.

@blakeruschman this may help as well:

Start at about 6:32 in the second video there. I recommend pausing the video while you create your pages, too. And if you need images, try Pixabay or Unsplash or a similar site.

Once you’ve got a few pages set up, she’ll walk through the basic setup for the Venture theme, but it’s very similar to Fortune & will use almost the same steps.

  • Also, I did want to note I don’t see any chat attempts from your account. Can you head to http://wordpress.com/help/contact and try opening a chat there? For business accounts, we can actually set up a screenshare with you to show you the ropes.
