wordpress cache issues with htaccess protection

  hi, well i seem to have run into a rather odd bug/issues

  when i used
  define(‘WP_CACHE’, true);

  wp super cache or total cache anything with wordpress cache for some reason a user name and password pop up shows up like when your protecting a fuel or directory with htaccess and htpassword

  now i am protecting the wp-admin directory with htaccess file with password protection but for some reason with any wordpress cacheing enabled it pops up with the protection site wide and what i mean on every page of wordpress including front home page even when viewing as a guest

  i even cleaned out the cache no help at all…

  any ideas how to fix this?

  and i always use the most current releases of wordpress
