WordPress can't register all domain names?

  Going through settings -> domain I tried to register a domain name for my blog. WordPress gave me the notice that it is already registered but when I try to register it through for example one.com, I can register it without problem. (I haven’t yet, since I would prefer to do it through WordPress).
  Anyone any idea why this could be? It is a .nl in case that’s relevant.

  You can’t register the full range of domain extensions here, no, but there should be no problem with buying it elsewhere and mapping it here (it may even work out cheaper in some cases)
