WordPress changes not ready for prime-time live?
-
Why does WordPress *persist* in making changes before they are ready for prime-time live?
I would also ask, have the “happiness engineers” at WP ever heard of the maxim: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”?
And I would ask, why ask users to test-drive (or whatever phrase you used) without a readily accessible form for feedback?
Why should it have taken me so much time and so many clicks to get to this particular form (in which my observations may or may not reach the right parties)?
The supposedly new, improved all-in-one comments, likes and who knows what else page is a GIANT step back from utility, readability and reasonability.
WP seems to be embarking on a course which appears to result in a very amateurish and virtually unreadable white on black assembly which seems to include all comments following one’s own – with a virtually unreadable blue on black identification of subsequent commenters.
In the process of implementing this “enhancement” -whether users like/want it or not – WP seems to have changed the coding which adversely affects browser behaviours. For example … using Chrome I was composing a comment on another blog … and after a few steps which I *carefully* began by opening another tab to find what I wanted, suddenly the tab with my comment in composition disappeared – and my text to that point was wiped out.
I’ve no idea whether or not this “question” will be answered with anything that remotely resembles an indication that the responder comprehends the problems I’ve identified.
But I sincerely hope that I do not once again have to contact Matt Mullenweg to set in motion a semblance of responsiveness.
P.S. I hope that you will not even think of deleting this post because I’ve already captured the text for my records.
P.P.S. Sorry to be so critical, because I still think that WP is a terrific blog platform, that I’d like to continue to recommend to my friends colleagues and contacts. But if you continue on this amateurish path not only will I have to consider making my bloghome elsewhere, but I’ll also have to recommend that my friends and colleagues do likewise.

This is a peer support forum where Volunteers and Staff work cooperatively together to answer technical support questions. We have no role to play in the decision making process when it comes to WordPress software development and are not in a position to answer any questions other than technical support questions.
WordPress.com is on continuous roll-out and is not about to consult with over 46 million in advance of any changes being made. As many as 2 dozen code changes can be made in a single day. If this blogging environment does not suit you then I have no solutions for you. Perhaps your best bet is to blog elsewhere.

My apologies. I must have ended up in the wrong forum!
It might have helped if you could have directed me to the right one – or to someone who could answer my questions. But c’est la vie, eh?!
That being said, I do have some difficulty squaring your:
WordPress.com is on continuous roll-out and is not about to consult with over 46 million in advance of any changes being made
with my initial observation that WP had invited (at least some – and possibly all) users to [full text of this invitation now provided]:
Help us try out a new version of this [My Comments] page, which combines your Likes and Comments in one view!
with the fact that there was – and apparently still is – no direct means of providing feedback. So, alas, I’m still in the dark as to why they asked for the “help” of those who received the invite.
But, hey, don’t let this discourage you from providing another snarky non-responsive reply! I’ll add it to my database ;-)
