WordPress Clone Scripts
-
I’m thinking about using one of WordPresses’s clone scripts and want to know if the code can be edited. I want to add a couple of functions and want to make sure I can edit the html before I buy it.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Haven’t the foggiest idea of what you are talking about really. What do you mean “clone scripts”? A clone of wordpress that has been hacked by someone else?
-
OK, I just googled it. Where are you wanting to use this and why in the world would you go with a cheap generic when you can have the real thing? This could lead to all sorts of issues including not being able to get out of it and back to a real wordpress installation.

Clone Scripts are PHP Scripts@yllehs5
We cannot access the PHP files underlying our themes on this WordPress MU multiuser blogging platform. We cannot edit either themes or templates as this is a shared environment and all blogs wearing the same themes are in essence using the same template. We cannot affect functionality at all. If you want that kind of access and complete control over a template you are in the wrong place. Please read this entry so you are clear on the differences between free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG installs for self hosting.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/If you wish to accept the limitation of remaining on free hosting there are over 100 free themes you can use located here > Appearance > Themes.
If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/If your purchase a Premium Theme then you get support in the Premium Themes Forum from the theme designer but that doesn’t change the fact that you cannot use WordPress PHP clone scripts on a free blog from and being free hosted by wordpress.com. Nor does it change any of the other restrictions, policies, or rules.
If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/ -
I’m thinking they mean this,
webcodigos.blogspot.com/2008/10/blogger-wordpress-clone-script.html
Sorry, no http:// since I would be tossed in the akismet dungeon.
Basically they sort of mimic wordpress from what I understand.

Seriously, the hottest thing on Blogspot right now is WordPress lookalikes. Some people just love Blogger or fear change, but don’t want old-fashioned looking blogs, ie Blogspot-looking blogs.

Why not just get the WordPress.ORG software – there are a ton of .ORG blessed Themes and Plug-in’s for your self hosted site? –
Accept no expensive substitutes – use only genuine top quality free software
I be confused why anyone would even consider a clone – the people over at .ORG are nice people and they and .COM work real hard to keep the software the best it can be.
