WordPress.com account – confused

    I have a blog on wordpress.org. Why do I have a wordpress.com account also?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    You have a plugin installed on your site called Jetpack. That plugin adds several features to your site, including security features, stats, a comments and email subscription system, several widgets, and a contact form, to name only a few. Those features are all powered by our systems on WordPress.com, so they require a connection to a WordPress.com account to work.

    Also note that Jetpack offers additional features like real-time backups, malware scanning, and access to all premium themes on WordPress.com on the paid plans, should you be looking for those types of services.
