WordPress.com address (url) greyed out

I am trying to change the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) from my current domain to a new domain in the settings tab. I have already added the new domain and changed its nameservers in GoDaddy and its working. But it redirects to my current domain.
I want it to be the main domain, so instead of y.com/blog redirecting to x.com, I want y.com/blog to go to the original x.com/blog but under the y.com domain.
My settings however are greyed out and I cannot access the wp.config file because I am using WordPress.com and not WordPress.org so I do not have a custom web hosting service like HostGator or BlueHost.
How do I fix this issue? Thanks in advance.

You can’t change the URL for your site running on the wordpress.com platfom, the way you are trying to do.

Then what am I supposed to do? If I delete the original domain, will it automatically update to the new domain I added?
