WordPress.com business plan and its ability to use third party advertising program.

I recently purchased a WordPress.com premium but I discovered that the only advertising program allowed is wordads. Now I am considering upgrading to WordPress business plan. My question now is, since the purchase is not up to a month, do I need to make full payment for the new plan or I will just have to pay the difference? Secondly, does WordPress.com business plan have right to use other advertising medium other than wordads? Please help me out! I’m really confused.

  • You can upgrade your plan at any time, and use third-party advertising under the Business Plan:

Advertising through third-party ad networks like Google AdSense, OpenX, Lijit, BuySellAds, and Vibrant Media, or selling advertising space on your site, is only permitted on sites that have the WordPress.com Business and eCommerce Plans.

Thanks so !such for the response. But I have come across a post which says WordPress.com sites are limited to wordads only. And some who applied for AdSense received the feedback “this site does not exist”, simply because its a WordPress.com site. Now in this case, what exactly do we do? Should we upgrade to business plan to gain access to third party ads or should we switch to WordPress.org?
I recently upgraded to premium plan but I need third party ads! So I want to be sure whether to upgrade to business plan or switch to self hosted WordPress.org?

  • I’m not sure about what situation occurred but I am guessing that those folks were trying to run third party ads on their free .wordpress.com sites – which would not be possible from ours or Google’s end.

Once you’ve added the business plan to the account you can install any ad network manager through plugins and manage or customize the ads displayed as you wish.

Also, the business plan is refundable for 30 days. So you can give it a good try and see if it works well for your project. It also comes with 7 days per week, 24 hours per day live chat support from our team via https://wordpress.com/help/contact/

Thanks for the response so far and good to know! So if I upgrade to business plan now will I pay the price difference since my premium upgrade is less than three months? Or I will have to pay the complete business plan amount?

  • You’ll receive an automatic discount based on the unused time of your premium plan. You’ll see the discounted price on the checkout page, after you add the more expensive plan.
