WordPress.com Domain Change

I know this may be a shot in the dark, but I had a free wordpress.com domain, misgrammared.wordpress.com, on my account which I wanted to switch out with my other blog domain (chopinssolderingiron.wordpress.com). I changed the Misgrammared domain to misgrammaredarchive.wordpress.com, and now the misgrammared.wordpress.com domain is no longer available.

I know I should have been more careful, but I had a long night yesterday and didn’t clock the fact that WordPress.com says once you change a domain, it’s no longer available. (I also don’t remember this being the case in the past, I thought I’d changed domains before without them becoming unavailable to change back – but maybe I’m misremembering.)

Is there any way to use the misgrammared.wordpress.com domain name again, or will it be available once more after some set amount of time? Or is that domain now doomed to history?

Thank you so much in advance!

  • No worries, you only deleted it a few hours ago via the name change tool, so I was able to restore the name for you. The site is empty, though. Its contents were moved. If you need to move them back, you can use My Site > Tools > Export and Import as needed.
