Does WordPress.com have Global DNS also known as glue records, where nameservers are linked to IPs? Coming from Google Domains, this is important to know ahead of time.

    WP.com: Yes

  • Hi there,

I’m happy to inform you that we support Glue records.

Given that you’re coming from Google Domains, here’s some good news for you. If you decide to move your domain to us, not only will we cover the transfer fee, but we’ll also extend your domain registration for an additional year, at no extra cost to you.

If this sounds good and you’re interested in moving forward, you can start the process right here: https://wordpress.com/setup/google-transfer/intro

Should you have any more questions or need assistance during the transfer process, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re here to help.

Thank you for the information. Will the glue records automatically transfer over with the transfer?

  • When transferring a domain to WordPress.com, we make every effort to automatically import all your existing DNS records.

However, as a best practice and to ensure no records are missed, I’d recommend exporting all your records from Google Domains as a BIND file. Once your domain has been successfully transferred to WordPress.com, you can then import them. We have a step-by-step guide that can walk you through this process: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/transfer-a-google-domain-to-wordpress-com/#step-6-set-up-the-dns

If you have any further questions or need more clarity, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to assist you every step of the way.
