WordPress.com Editing Toolkit plugin generating a ton of unwanted thumbnails

I discovered using the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin that the “WordPress.com Editing Toolkit” is automatically generating more than a dozen thumbnails on each image upload..

“newspack-article-block-landscape-large: 1200×900 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-portrait-large: 900×1200 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-square-large: 1200×1200 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-landscape-medium: 800×600 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-portrait-medium: 600×800 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-square-medium: 800×800 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-landscape-small: 400×300 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-portrait-small: 300×400 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-square-small: 400×400 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-landscape-tiny: 200×150 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-portrait-tiny: 150×200 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-square-tiny: 200×200 pixels (cropped to fit) newspack-article-block-uncropped: 1200×9999 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)”

How do I turn this setting off? Right now I’m having to use ThumbPress to manually deactivate them.. But I don’t want to keep a separate plugin just to solve this issue..

    Thank you

If you have access to plugins on your WordPress.com site, the best thing would be to contact WordPress.com Support directly via the contact form, or inquire with the plugin author directly.

  • Hi there,

Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host creatorvilla.com on our WordPress.com managed hosting.

To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions. You can learn more about the performance and security benefits of our managed hosting here: https://wordpress.com/hosting/

Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.

You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, and we offer a migration plugin that will help you move your site to our managed hosting in just a few clicks.

The Move to WordPress.com plugin allows you to start migrating a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com directly from the self-hosted site. Prerequisites The Move to WordPress.com plugin installed on your self-hosted WordPress site. All incompatible plugins deactivated on the self-hosted site. ✅ There is no need to create a site on WordPress.com before you get star

Unfortunately though, as it stands now, we are not able to help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help.

    Thanks!

/waving @staff-totoro if it’s an issue with the plugin, wouldn’t the plugin’s support forum be equally relevant? Thanks

  • Hey there,

Indeed – this can be found here: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/regenerate-thumbnails/

    I hope this helps!
