WordPress.com hosted blogs – no FTP access, workarounds?
-
Hi there,
My company is currently looking into the Premium WP (wordpress.com) 96€ yearly plan for our blog (and we will do a URL redirect for it to our main corporate site – as we cannot host the blog on our host due to security issues). What I would like to ask is, since FTP access is not allowed for any of these accounts, is it possible to add additional css/js files to themes for example?
Since we are a media company from time to time we need permalinks of images and videos, and was just thinking how we can give permalinks to these media forms without showing the whole blog posts…

Hi there,
It’s not possible to add javascript, but CSS rules (not files) can be added to the customizer if you need to alter the appearance of an element.

If you need to add javascript to a theme, that would require an upgrade to a Business plan.

Media can be uploaded to the media library on your site via the dashboard.
Once the media has been uploaded, you can copy the URL to the file, and send it to whomever you like.

Just to clarify that – the Business plan does not allow FTP access, but javascript could be added via a child theme or plugin.
