WordPress.com login issues

    Hi,

I am setting up a site that will be restricted from public view. Users will have to register and log in to gain access to the content. Registration is through the BuddyPress plugin.

The Jetpack plugin was preventing new users from logging in, as “WordPress.com login” was enabled. After registering, new users get the error ‘User does not exist’ and forces them to register for an additional wordpress.com account. So I have disabled wordpress.com login in jetpack settings.

This has caused major problems. I can no longer log in to my admin account as I get the error “The username “xxxxxxxx” is not registered on this site. If you are unsure of your username, try your email address instead. E-mail address does not work either.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Hi there, I don’t see that you have an actual bbPress login page set up. You can do that by creating a new page, and add a shortcode block to it and then add the bbPress shortcode to that block.

    Shortcode Block: https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/blocks/shortcode-block/

    Shortcode to add: [bbp-login]

Once you create and publish that bbPress login page, replace the login link menu item you have at top right on your site with a one linked to that login page.

Since bbPress is created and developed by independent developers, if you have questions on setting it up and configuring things, you can contact bbPress support through their forum.

In addition, you can reference here is a link to the bbPress documentation.

Hello there already is a registration page (/registration). Users have no problems accessing it and creating accounts. I can see them all in the ‘Users’ section of the back end.

The problem occurs when they attempt to log in. The default WP login page has been replaced with a wordpress.com one and it forces them to create an additional wordpress.com account. I do not want my new users to have to do this.

When I disable “wordpress.com login” from the Jetpack settings, these users can now sign in (as they don’t have to authenticate with wordpress.com) but unfortunately we are all locked out of our admin accounts.

It seems that disabling “wordpress.com login” from the jetpack settings is not intended on wordpress.com business hosting as it causes more issues then it solves.

Therefor, I am looking for a way to disable the “wordpress.com login” authentication/integration so users can sign up independently to wordpress.com. Is that possible to do?
