WordPress.com problems

So has WordPress.com been having issues for the past week? Lots of oddities going on at our site: can’t add media with the Add Media button, pages aren’t updating automatically but require a refresh, the block editor is blank, and now I can’t see the Media Library.

Hi there, everything you are describing sounds like it could be a browser issue. Try logging out entirely of WordPress.com, clear your browser’s cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache shut down your browser and then open and log back in.

We haven’t had any other reports of issues like you’ve been describing, and I access the editor and upload media multiple times a day without any issues.
What you’re experiencing is most likely being caused by your browser. Try clearing your browser cache, and disable any browser add-ons you have installed to see if that makes a difference. Also see if logging in using incognito/private mode, or using a completely different browser helps. And make sure your browser allows JavaScript.
Not being able to see images in the media library could point to a connection issue as well, so unplug your modem/router for a few seconds, or if possible, see if using a different internet connection makes any difference.

Thanks. We had already done most of those things by several different users on different machines in different states, and they did not work. However, something cleared up yesterday, and things are nearly back to normal: apparently somebody behind the scenes did something.
