The site expired due to mismanagement. Can I please access the old backup files and database? (I need this for two sites, also r*.com)

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

  • Hi there,

Can you confirm the URL of the site you need help with? I checked your account, but you’ve never owned any upgrades with us.

http://futurefcmma.wordpress.com/ used to be on our business plan, but that plan was bought by a different account from yours, and the site itself also belongs to that other account.

All content that used to be on that site should still be accessible at the free WordPress.com address – when a WordPress.com site on a paid plan expires, the site goes back to the free plan, but its content isn’t changed in any way.

However, if you want to restore the custom theme and plugins you had on the site, you’ll need to buy a new Pro plan for the site first. The Pro plan is also required to manually restore previous backups of a site.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Hi, yes, that’s one of the sites. The other is roadtofuture. Can I please get a copy of the last Jetpack backup for each site? I was the developer contracted by the buyer, and we were both part of a larger company, but the company had some financial issues and we let the plan expire unfortunately without downloading a backup. Thanks

Or… I can see the files via an SFTP connection I had open. Is there a way I can dump the database? That would be all I need. I would upload phpMyAdmin but the database details aren’t in wp-config.php

  • Okay, in this case we were still have existing backups for your site. I’ve sent you an email with links you can use to download them. Those links will only work for the next 24 hours.

The files you see in your FTP software would be cached versions directly in that software, as the SFTP connection was severed from our end when the sites got downgraded. Direct access to the database also isn’t possible any more without a plan, but those links I emailed should have everything you need to restore these backups to a local WordPress install, or to another host.

If you plan to continue hosting the sites here on WordPress.com, we can also help you restore the backups directly if you upgrade to the Pro plan (the Pro plan recently replaced Business, which you used to have on these sites. Pro has all the features of Business, but at only about 60% of the cost: https://wordpress.com/pricing/)

Awesome, thanks! Will quite possibly be back for the great service at some point.
