WordPress.com vs GoDaddy WP Hosting themes
-
Hi everyone.
I’m building a website for a client but started building on wordpress.com. The client indicated wanting to move to WordPress godaddy hosting. The only issue is that the client has already paid for themes and we’ve already built out some of the website. How much different would the Godaddy WP interface be? And will we have access to the paid themes on wordpress.com?

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out, and we can definitely help and advise here.
How much different would the Godaddy WP interface be?
GoDaddy deals in self-hosted WordPress, which is very different to WordPress.com. Generally with self-hosted WordPress, you don’t have the support that WordPress.com provides (as WordPress managed hosting solution) when something goes wrong.
To explain further, there’s two types of WordPress. The first is WordPress.com, where we provide daily backups, automatic updates, a 24/7 support service and an optimised version of WordPress. The second is self-hosted WordPress, where the free open source version of the software is installed onto a server.
More on the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
And will we have access to the paid themes on wordpress.com?
Not quite, if you were to move to WordPress.com, you would need to repurchase this theme from theme developers, which would mean there’s a rebuild at stake there.
Is there a particular reason GoDaddy has been added to the mix? Perhaps I can offer some reassurances and advice on how best to proceed.
I hope this helps.
