    Hey guys, first off let me say that my side is jacked up. We have a .com account for our website and we want to make a .org site and import everything from .com to .org. Also the unsername and passwords don’t seem to be jiving well. I don’t think they are in sync and I need to make sure that all usernames and passwords are the same across the board and that the correct persons are accountable for the sites. Can you please help me? Our website is crossfitpinnacle.com.

    Hi there,

    There is no connection whatsoever between a WordPress.com account, a WordPress.org account, and the admin account for your self-hosted WordPress site. The three have nothing to do with each other, and you most definitely should not manually set those accounts to be using the same passwords, as that is terrible from a security perspective.

    The password for your site at crossfitpinnacle.com is stored in the site database on your hosting providers’ servers, and neither we nor the folks on WordPress.org have any access to it at all.

    As you have the Jetpack plugin installed on that site you can enable Jetpack’s secure sign-on feature which will also allow you to log into that site using your WordPress.com account. But you should still have a separate, unique password for that site itself.

    If any other users need to have access to the site, you’ll need to create their own contributor accounts for the site at WP-Admin ->Users ->Add New, and once those accounts are created they’ll be able to create their own Jetpack connections to their own WordPress.com accounts to use WordPress.com to log into that site.
