WordPress corrupts svg images, prepending i0.wp.com to URLs.
-
Example: https://rwmj.wordpress.com/2014/04/29/virt-builder-rhel-7-release-candidate/
This post used to have a correct link to an SVG image, written in the posting source as:
<img src=”http://libguestfs.org/virt-builder.svg” width=”200″ />
However all of these images are now broken. They link to a non-existant file https://i0.wp.com/libguestfs.org/virt-builder.svg (but the source remains correct).

Hi there,
I’m sorry, but I just confirmed with our team that we do not allow SVG graphics on WordPress.com for security reasons.
-
Even externally hosted? Note these are not using the image uploader, they are hosted on my site. What are the security issues with SVG?
-
OK I have read up on the security issues. Not sure to what extent they apply to externally hosted content, but WP is free to deny hosting of what they want. It seems odd to just break images though. I have dozens of SVG images in my blog, all now broken.
