    Hi there,

Is this the plugin you are using for your self-hosted WordPress site?

    WordPress Crosspost

If so, it appears that the plugin hasn’t been updated in some time. Over the past few years, we’ve made a lot of changes to WordPress.com and how sites can interact with the WordPress.com API now that WordPress core also has an API.

Please make sure that you are using the latest version of Jetpack and the plugin. If you’re still having trouble please post a link to your site and additional details to how things are connected.

Since the problem you are having is related to a plugin the best option here may likely be to reach out to the plugin author, however, there’s some more digging we can do on our end as well.

My website is diariodoindiano.com and diariodoindiano.wordpress.com

When I post something on my self-hosted website, it gets also posted automatically at diariodoindiano.wordpress.com

The plugin you showed is the correct one. But now when I crosspost I get error and the picture galleries doesn’t get crossposted. I contacted the plugin admin and he told me I should contact you since the issue might be from your side.

Can you help in this regard? I appreciate your feedback.

    Regards
    Aron

  • Hi Aron, while it uses our API, it could be an issue with the way the plugin interacts with the API, and that’s not something we officially support here.

The error message you’ve got seems to offer some clues though:

    “unknown_post_type”

Are you trying to post with a custom post type, perhaps one that isn’t supported on the site on this end?

If you use a regular post does it work?

I am not using any custom post. I think this error was still there before and I was able to crosspost with all the images intact. But now, after I upgraded wordpress and PHP, I am not able to crosspost images. And I don’t know how to solve it.

Or. If this is not possible. Can you help me in importing issue. I try to export all content from my wordpress.org self hosted website to wordpress.com but either there are duplicates or images missing when I import it. How can import everything as it is (with the plugins being the exceptions obviously)

The plugin developer will need to work with you to solve incompatibilities with the plugin and your site. They can also reach out to our Development team with any questions on our API at:

We can definitely help with moving your site’s content to WordPress.com. Since the process is a little involved the full import should only be done once and then, if needed, additional imports can be done later.

We find that importing works best from XML files which are less than a few MB in size. We also require the live site, in your case the self-hosted site to be publically accessible before trying to run the import. This is where the images are coming from.

Running the import will also work best on an empty site with no content, you may want to create a new site on WordPress.com for the import or request staff empty a site noting you understand all content could be lost forever if the import fails.

We have a full guide on importing to WordPress.com here:

    Import a Website

In addition, Jetpack allows you to manage your self-hosted site from WordPress.com without needing to run the importer.

But if I create an empty site or this site is emptied by staff then do I lose the likes, comments and other social aspects?

    Hello
I will try to manually change it for now. And in future will refrain from using this plugin. Thanks again. You can close this thread
