WordPress Dashboard as a referrer
-
when look at my blog stats, it show that “WordPress Dashboard” is one of my referrers. i can’t click on the link to see where this is. and when i go the dashboard, i don’t see any reference to my blog. anyone know what this means?
-
I have saw that yesterday on one of my blogs and I don’t have a clue what it means either. Hopefully someone else has an answer.
-
I believe it means that someone just signed in and saw you in Most Recently Updated or Top Blogs or something and clicked through from Dashboard. I click through from there ALL the TIME.
-
that’s what i was thinking, but the stats keep going up and i hadn’t posted anything for a few hours at least…

It registers if people click through from that list’s page, but not if they click through from the handful displayed on the dashboard.

I saw it a day or two ago. At the same time, I didn’t see the admin bar, even though I was signed in.
-
I’m seeing this quite a bit now and I’m certain my blog has never been on Top Blogs or Top Posts or Fastest Growing list, and it happens when I don’t have a post recent enough to make the latest posts list.
Does anyone know the complete answer to this yet?

I wish I knew. I saw three dashboard referrers and I’m no top blog. And I haven’t posted in a few days, so it can’t be recent posts.

abbydonkrafts is right, in addition to the dashboard home page with recent and top blogs, it counts traffic from the my comments, blog surfer, tag surfer, and any clicks from people’s dashboard comments section.

Yes, thanks for that. I was speculating that the dashboard referral included anything under wp-admin. You confirmed that is the case. Thanks again!
