WordPress dashboard is unreadable

  • Unknown's avatar

One day I logged in to my WordPress dashboard to discover that both the text and the background is black, which makes it virtually unreadable. I tried changing the theme under the user tab, disabling all dark mode settings, and even installed a third party theme customization plugin but nothing has worked.

How do I revert it back to the defaut theme?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,

I had a look, and the site you’re referring to doesn’t seem to be hosted here at WordPress.com. Because of that, I’m limited in how much I can directly troubleshoot your dashboard appearance, as we don’t have access to manage or troubleshoot your site.

On self-hosted WordPress sites (those using the WordPress.org software), issues like the one you described are usually caused by custom admin color schemes (you can check from Users > Profile > Admin Color Scheme) or plugin or theme conflicts. The best next step is to try checking if you have a custom color scheme like this and/or reach out directly in the WordPress.org support forums where volunteers who specialize in self-hosted sites can help you.
