WordPress default 'Comment Blacklist' doesn't work

This is the description for the ‘Comment Blacklist’ –

“When a comment contains any of these words in its content, name, URL, e-mail, or IP, it will be marked as spam. One word or IP per line. It will match inside words, so “press” will match “WordPress”.”

This is the bottom part of my list:

    220.237.105.45
    *@mail.com
    nike
    oakley
    best price
    SEO

    This comment was added yesterday:
“I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing”
Even exact match to IP got through.

Am I using the list incorrectly? Or does it simply not work?

Was the comment “I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing” marked as spam? The blacklist doesn’t stop the comments from coming. It’s only supposed to result in comments containing the blacklisted words, IP addresses, etc. being filtered into the spam comments.

It was in the pending section.
I’ll check tomorrow to see if any of them go into spam.
