  Whenever I open the wordpress desktop app, it shows ‘You need to set `oauth_client_id` in your config file.’ – only doing so would open the app. I tried understanding how to solve this, but failed. Can you help me out?

  Hi there,

  Here’s how to fix that issue.

  1. Uninstall the WordPress.com app by using a program like Revo Uninstaller (Windows) or AppCleaner (macOS). Those programs will completely uninstall the app and delete any leftover files.

  2. Go to your Security page on your WordPress.com account and under the Connected Apps tab disconnect the WordPress.com Desktop App. Here’s a direct link to that page:

  https://wordpress.com/me/security/connected-applications

  3. Install the WordPress.com app again and re-connect your site or account.
