WordPress Desktop app hasn't worked in months

Hi, I haven’t bothered using WordPress because when I want to quickly write up a post, the desktop app doesn’t work.

It was always a bit buggy (various), and I just uninstalled it completely and reinstalled, but it’s the same issue now.

The main issue now is that I get “You need to set oauth_client_id in your config file.“. There’s no Login, only “Developer Resources” and “Create Account”.

Since I haven’t done any developing on this machine (or this account I’m pretty sure), this shouldn’t be an issue.

The “Sign Out” button is disabled.

  • Hi there,

Please uninstall the app again, and then manually delete the application data folder. On Windows you can find it at C:Users<username>AppDataRoamingWordPress.com (Windows 10).

The application data folder can be hidden on Windows. In that case try entering %appdata% in the Cortana search bar.

Once you’ve deleted that, reinstall the app. Let us know if it still gives you the error.

    Cheers, that did the trick.
