WordPress Desktop app shows white screen

hi,
i’m hosting a blog myself. I installed jetpack, connected everything and also installed the WP desktop app on Windows10.
I can create blog posts, manage my blog and everything works fine for some time.
But i had the problem, that after some actions(adding a picture to a blog posts, etc) sometime the wordpress app turns white and you can do nothing. I just see a white screen, the menu and nothing happens. After restart of the app the same.
Then i hafe to disconnect Jetpack, restart the App, connect Jetpack again and it is working fine until the next crash.
Has anybody seen this error before or knows what causes this behaviour?

Are you using the desktop app in Windows or another operating system?

yep, i use it on windows 10
Today came an update vor v2.00 of the desktop app.
I will try if it works better with this version

ok, just checked it…still the same problem
i tried to add a photo to a post(worked fine for sometimes)
i see a small part of the image…BOOM, the app turns white and i cannot work anymore.

at the momemnt if i restart the app i can edit my blog again.
will test further. maybe a restart now fixes the problem and i do not get a white screen only in the future

Thanks, would you also be willing to test whether this is limited to the jetpack connected site? You could create a new free site here:
https://wordpress.com/start/then test to see if you have the same issue. That way we can try to determine whether it’s the Jetpack connection still or something with uploading media on your account / computer. Thanks!

I’m having the same white screen problem in the desktop version 1.9, and now 2.0. I do not use Jetpack, just Windows 10 and the desktop app. I can use my web browser (Firefox) and edit my post, but would rather use the desktop.

Sorry, cant test anything at the moment as i have only limited Internet sometimes.
Also i have very slow Internet with big latency(may this be an issue?)When i want to blog something it now happens almost every time with this white screen

Thanks, can you both confirm this happens every time you try to add an image?
Does it matter if the image is small?
Are you seeing the white screen in any other places?
Basically I’m hoping we can figure out how to consistently reproduce this error. If we can do that we can find a solution.

I have not been able to duplicate the problem today. I guess that’s a good thing! I’ll try again and let you know if it happens again.

when trying to copy paste an image i got the same error, there is no way to recover from it until you restart windows

@edgarg I don’t believe the desktop app supports copying and pasting images at this time. You’d need to add them via the add media icon. If you do that does the app crash?
For what it’s worth, I did go ahead and try seeing if I could make the app crash by attempting to paste an image. The image didn’t paste, but the app didn’t crash, either.

It just happened again. Totally white screen and nothing I can do but reboot. I was spell checking a post when I right-clicked on a word it went to the white screen. I’m on Windows 10 and WordPress 2.2.0

Ah, too bad; logs can give us a lot of hints that white screens cannot.
Have you figured out how to consistently reproduce this error? For example, does it only happen after so many hours, or when you have a certain program open in another window?

The only thing that seems to generate this error is the right click of the mouse. Though not the only time it has happened, this has been the last thing I did the last couple of times it has happened.
How would I find a log? Where would it be stored? Maybe I am missing it.
