WordPress Desktop Application is BROKEN
-
Neither on Windows 10 nor on Linux can I use the desktop application anymore. Since about a few weeks, when it was working, it no longer works. I tried upgrading to 6.3 on Linux, but that did not work. What is going on with this stuff? The real problem is just trying to add a new post, which is what WordPress is all about right? So one would think you would never break that. BTW, I use the classic editor, but deactivated it and still see the same issue, grayed blinking nothings, then it links me to the wordpress website. Really?
I have an image of the issue, for what it’s worth.

I recommend doing a fresh installation of the app. Here’s how to do that:
1. Uninstall the WordPress.com app by using a program like Revo Uninstaller (Windows) or AppCleaner (macOS). Those programs will completely uninstall the app and delete any leftover files.
2. Go to your Security page on your WordPress.com account and under the Connected Apps tab disconnect the WordPress.com Desktop App. Here’s a direct link to that page:
https://wordpress.com/me/security/connected-applications
3. Install the WordPress.com app again and re-connect your site or account.
If this doesn’t work or you have more questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help!

No, that did not work, the same thing happens.
I performed an advanced revo scan on wordpress and deleted everything that it found. Rebooted, reinstalled the app. Went into my account, saw that the app was one of the connected apps again and tried to edit.
I can see everything in the desktop application, everything appears normal when I click my site and navigate. But, if I try to edit anything it gives me the pulsing gray buttons along with a very simple menu bar, then after about 5-10 seconds launches me into the browser in edit mode for the post I want to edit correctly.
Perhaps I am using the incorrect ID? That is one of the big issues I have with this entire webpress thing, I need too many ids, avatars, etc… It could be just my own confusion, but I did NOT stop it from working so something has changed.

It’s definitely an ID issue of some kind. I reset my password and now am getting this after the 5-10 second timeout:
WordPress.com ran into an error! (code 27) -
Do you have another computer to install the app and see if you’re getting the same results?

Not right now, but in about a week or so I will be standing up a new rig and can try to see if the problem persist then.
In the meantime, can you tell me if the gravatar account is still necessary? If I can eliminate some of these IDs, perhaps it would be a bit less confusing. Right now I have them set to the same login creds to reduce any issues and since that got me further (no browser launch) I think its ID based issue.
