wordpress domain

  I’m trying to set up a new wordpress blog with a free .wordpress.com domain name, but I am always directed to a setup interface that leads me through a 5-step setup process. The 4th step says ‘Let’s get your blog a domain! Tell us your blog’s name or a few keywords, and we’ll come up with some suggestions.’ But there is no option for a wordpress domain name. I’ve tried multiple browsers, clearing cache and histroy, and setting up a new account. I’ve tried setting up a new site from my dashboard and from the wordpress homepage. Nothing seems to help.

  Perhaps you clicked “Blog” at step one and are being offered a subdomain ending in .blog. That would still be free too. If that isn’t acceptable then clicking “Business” at step one should get you a free site ending in .wordpress.com if that is what you’d prefer.

  Thanks, that worked! I found that a little confusing since I’m launching a personal blog nothing business related, but it doesn’t really make a difference once I set up my site. Thanks again.
