WordPress Domain/Account Issue

  I created my site using WordPress and used procarfab.com as a dummy URL. I ended up transferring my website to a different host which manages our company URL longroadracing.com. Today, longroadracing.com is live. When I click on ‘My Sites’ on the top left corner, it takes me to this WordPress admin account; however, the address changes to procarfab.wordpress.com. How do I completely eliminate any reference to procarfab.com so I can edit longroadracing.com. PS. I have a screenshot if you need.

  Hi there,

  This is happening because you’re trying to manage your self-hosted site (longroadracing.com) through WordPress.com. The easiest way is to simply log in directly to longroadracing.com and manage it from its own dashboard. Here’s a link to the login page:

  Thank you! So, when I get to the longroadracing.com/wp-admin dashboard, there is a “W MySite” opn the top right. When I click that and go to settings, it defers to the procarfab.com (WP) dash. I guess I can delete the entire procarfab site and contents without it affecting my current host, right?

  Hi there,

  Your self-hosted site has no connection at all with your WordPress.com account and the site at procarfab.wordpress.com. So deleting procarfab.wordpress.com should have no effect on your other site.

  However, when you say “when I get to the longroadracing.com/wp-admin dashboard, there is a “W MySite” opn the top right”, do you mean something like this?

  

  If you go to your admin area via those options and you still see the procarfab.com domain, that means somewhere in your site’s database that domain is still listed as the site’s URL. That’s not something we can help you fix, as we have no access to that site’s admin area, and WordPress.com sites don’t work the same as self-hosted sites in that regard.

  In that case, please ask for advice in https://wordpress.org/support/, or your hosting provider might also be able to help with this.
