WordPress Domain and HTTPS

  Howdy,

  If I buy a domain from WordPress, does it come with SSL certificate? I don’t understand why some of the domains are expensive.

  Hi Hussain –

  The price for custom domains varies a bit based on the TLD. Can you share the domain you were looking to register?

  You’ll want to add WordPress.com Personal to your account in order to register the domain. The domain price is included in the plan and we take care of the SSL as well.

  Hi Liz,

  I have the free version of wordpress.

  So I understand that if I buy the personal plan, I get domain + SSL taken care of for me.

  But if I want a custom one, say iamfunny.org, then the price is $18, while it is $9 on GoDaddy. When I buy iamfunny.org from wordpress, does wordpress gets me SSL configured for me? What if I buy it from GoDaddy?

  I can’t speak for GoDaddy.

  On WordPress.com the SSL would be taken care of regardless of your plan level.
