WordPress domain registry ?

    I’ve searched the FAQ and forums to no avail and can’t quite get an answer to my question.

    I have a domain with a registrar that will expire in June. I have mapped this domain to my WP blog. I think I just purchased mapping only, but I would like to register the domain as well with WP instead of renewing with the registrar I currently have.

    Do I have to wait until it expires before I repurchase it with WP ? I would like to accomplish this with minimal downtime, but I’m not exactly sure from the FAQ/forums what I need to do in this case.
