WordPress domain renewal mapping issue
-
Hi there.
We bought the domain name bondikitchengarden.com through WordPress and assigned it to our blog. Unfortunately we let it expire and we are now trying to reactivate it through the admin / settings / domains interface. But when I press ADD DOMAIN it comes back with the following notice:
Currently the nameservers for this domain appear to be:
67.228.255.5
67.228.254.4Using the DNS tools provided by your domain registrar, remove any existing nameservers and add the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMProblem is, we thought WordPress was the registrar???
Can you help please?

It looks like your domain registration is still OK for a few weeks – but there is no domain mapping showing for bondikitchengarden.com – so just add a new domain mapping – you also need to point the name servers back to WordPress.COM – they are pointing to softlayer.com – was there a reason for pointing to softlayer.com?
-
Thanks for the reply. We originally bought the name through WordPress so I don’t know how it got on Softlayer? But now that I know where its pointing I’ll try to follow the procedure to remap them. Will post again if any issues doing that.
Thanks again.

Wow. Just went to the softlayer site and I have no idea what to do. Why would the domain name have ended up there anyway???
-
So it looks like we are stuffed. I cannot for the life of me see where to change the name servers on the Softlayer site, and anyway we have no idea how the domain name ended up there??? We have never received anything from Softlayer, just a confirmation from WordPress when the original purchase of the domain name went through. As far as we are concerned we have only dealt with WordPress and expect the domain name to still be assigned to their server. It seems then that by purchasing a domain name through WordPress we lose it forever!! Is there a Mr WordPress, or do they hide behind these forums? One would expect there to be someone available to offer support after a commercial transaction has taken place – ie. we have bought the domain name.

I don’t think you need to deal with that other website. Deal with staff here. Email support at wordpress dot com.

I am also facing the same issue. My blog expired 17 days back and I am not finding a gateway to renew the same. There was no mail from wordpress to get it activated. Neither any menu is leading to renewal. Do not know what to do.

danielburke, the domain name bondikitchengarden.com expired on September 14 and has since been purchased by someone else.
rohiniaggarawal, I don’t see any domain registrations on your account. Which domain were you referring to? Also, please note that renewal emails are sent to the email address on the account which owns the domain.

I’m not 100% sure. The new owners seem to be forwarding it back to your old site for some reason. Possibly just saving it for later.
