WordPress domain to Godaddy hosting…
-
Hi, I am a bit confused on the correct way to set up my domain settings so that people can see my godaddy site.
I have a new IP from Godaddy, and Godaddy’s name servers. But it would seem that if I change name servers in wordpress, then editing the DNS will not work?
So far, I have been able to get my site to load some of the time, but usually I just get the default “This page is parked free, courtesy of WordPress.com” page.
Anybody know of the correct way to set this up?
Thanks! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello, bengus1,
I can see that your domain is pointed correctly to the GoDaddy IP Address ( quick check here :http://www.dnswatch.info/dns/dnslookup?la=en&host=gustafsongis.com&type=A&submit=Resolve) and your website is opening on my end. Hope that it is opening on yours as well already.
The propagation time is sometimes annoying since your website can be visible from your home computer, but when you go in the office – you can not see the website opening..and it is all matter of time. It is said that it can takes up to 48 hours, however based on my experience – it usually takes just a few.

Thank you for the response. I wasn’t sure whether I should be changing the name servers to ns55 and ns56 or leave them as the wordpress ones and just modify the DNS A IP address.
So far today, my site seems to be loading correctly.

Normally the name servers are changed
Check at Godaddy but they probably want the name servers changed for most reliable operation, using the IP address means that if that address is ever changed your site crashes, (WordPress.COM had 6 IP addresses last I checked, and the address of any given site here changes due to server load and normal maintenance)

Hi there,
You can follow our guide to Point a WordPress.com Domain to GoDaddy to use your domain with GoDaddy. Although normally you should change a domain’s name servers to point a domain to another host, in the case of GoDaddy it’s best to point the domain using the IP address you got from GoDaddy as you did.
If you have any trouble with that setup, please let me know. :)
