WordPress Domain/Hosting Expectations

  Hi all!

  I know this is sort of basic, but before I purchase any premium plans with WordPress, I need to make sure of a few things. I currently have a website that I manage for a client and that requires me to purchase a domain name (and renew yearly) as well as hosting, also renewed on a yearly basis.

  If I was to purchase, say, the $8.25 per month ($99 per year) premium plan with WordPress, would that cover all of my bases? Meaning, would this bring my current domain name and website hosting over to WordPress for the $99 per year? I just want to make sure that this is an all in one solution, and if not, what I need to be wary of.

  Hi there, hosting on WordPressdotcom is always free. What you are paying for are additional features/services. Here’s a page that explains a bit about the features in both the Premium Plan (scroll down) and the Business Plan. https://wordpress.com/business/

  You can buy a new domain name through WordPressdotcom as well as map an existing domain purchased through a different domain registrar. These upgrades need to be renewed annually as well as the domain name wherever it is purchased.

  This is great information. I took a look at both links you shared and I think the Premium Plan is exactly what I’m looking for. The webpage I manage is for a local community concert band, so the business plan is probably a little overkill. I also think having the standalone WP site would be a little more than what I want as well.

  What I’m really looking for is a solid website template, the ability to edit CSS and access to chat support when needed. I think the Premium Plan with WordPressdotcom will be perfect! I plan to cancel my current web hosting service, pay for the $99 per year premium plan with WP and continue to renew my domain name with my current provider (HostGator).
