wordpress download not working

  I downloaded the zipped wordpress file yesterday… unzipped it, read over the readme, tried to click on the “admin-install” file and it opened up in Adobe Dreamweaver, saying PHP was disabled or did not exist. (Is this even supposed to use Dreamweaver? I’d rather not, it’s confusing.) So I got frustrated, shut it down, came back to it this morning. Now, however, when I click on that “admin-install” file I get a loading mouse tooltip then nothing at all happens. Same when I click the “wp-config-sample” file as the readme suggests. load, then nothing.
  I am a photographer and I’m looking to replace my existing Wix webpage with a wordpress blog. I ultimately want to use a pretty flash gallery to display previews of recent sessions in my posts, but from what I understand I have to first download the software and design my blog, then pay for the customization option through wordpress. Is this correct? Am I even on the right track? and any ideas on why I can’t install this software? thanks.

  The site linked to your name is a valid blog – but the download and unzip are for a site not hosted here – depending on what you want to do you could map your domain to your blog here and host here – if you want to retain your old host then see below for more info.

  The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.

  thanks! Much less confused now. I figured out the slideshow function as soon as I posted that LOL maybe I should try to have my coffee BEFORE setting up my blog next time.
