WordPress editing my HTML without asking me

  • Unknown's avatar

We’re having an issue with both HTMl blocks and Code Editor either eating our HTML, or wrapping it in <p> </p>. The latter causes the desired HTML (title and meta tags) to display as text on the site.

    Screenshots show the issue.

Any advice on how this can be circumvented? It would be really good to know how to handle page title and meta tags without having to use Yoast (my client does not have a Business subscription (has Premium) so Yoast isn’t an option.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hello there,

Based on the image you shared, it looks like you’re working on the Index template. I do see a Custom HTML Block with a paragraph tag in it.

What was the original HTML you tried to add? The Business Plan would be the best solution to control the title and meta tags for SEO purposes. Either with a plugin or the SEO tools provided:
    https://wordpress.com/support/seo-tools/

In addition to more SEO tools, your client’s site would be backed up every day, give them access to 24/7 chat support, and much more.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions and have a great day!
