WordPress Editor Responding Intermittently
-
For the past weeks the editor response is intermittent while typing and clicking commands.
As I type the letters stop appearing. It is not “running slow” because when it responds again the missing letter/words do not finish appearing.Sometimes this happens repeatedly throughout all efforts to create a blog post. I sometimes it stutters only occasionally. Sometimes I have to hit key 10 even 80 times for each and every letter.
The save button, for example, often doesn’t react. I keep clicking for a few seconds up to minutes before it responds and works.
Sometimes it won’t even let me highlight a couple of words without stopping half through.WordPress is the only place this is happening on my PC.
My actions here are instantaneous and consistent although I had to click Help a dozen times to get here.Creating a blog post is beyond frustrating.
Please help!I sent a note to service about a week ago but got no response.

I’m experiencing the same problem and have been experiencing it intermittently since the Admin bar changes were made. It’s so annoying and frustrating that it makes m,e want to scream. I’m using Firefox 7.0.1 and my Flash is up to date. I don’t know what’s causing this. I have totally lost patience with it and hope that Staff will find out why this is happening and correct it.

I’m so relieved it’s not my system. Misery loves company but I’d rather have your company in something good. I too use Firefox and my son updated it when I first complained about this. I hope it’s not a Firefox compatibility issue.
Have you contacted staff and have they bothered answering you?
Yesterday I was trying and failing to create a post off and on most the day. Then my husband accidentally severed the cable internet wire while digging out an overgrown bush. (The idiots ran it through a garden area.) That was the last straw. I gave up and did not do my normal Monday post. When hubby temporarily taped to cable back together I dashed off quick apology with a picture of the severed wire and called it a post. LOL.

Do you know if this is happening for other users too?
I’m not sure the editor is to blame (can’t tell yet), but it could be that your browser is having trouble loading a supporting file of the editor’s or of one of the other features like grammar checking or Zemanta suggestions. Need more info.
What browser and browser version are you using? Does the problem happen if you try another browser on the same computer?
Do you have any browser add-ons installed that could be interfering?
When you experience the problem, could you look in the status bar at the bottom of the browser for any triangle looking warning icons. If you see one, can you click on it to see if it pulls up any errors for you. If you find any errors, could you post them back here in a reply?

Have now disabled Zemanta and tried a test post that went remarkably well. I will let you know if that has any effect on the behavior. I don’t get any error messages on the bottom browser bar now and I didn’t before either.

Thanks for the info! Zemanta can be resource intensive, but it might not be to blame for all the troubles in this case. Part of the trick in situations like this one is catching the problem in action so we can get some technical info to point us to what might really be causing trouble–especially when the problem is intermittent like you guys described, or when not everyone experiences the same issue.
If the problem keeps happening for you and you see any browser status bar notices or warning icons, reply back here about it because that may help give us the info we need to look deeper at he problem from our side. Another thing you can do is try to get the HTTP response headers using Firebug for Firefox during a time when the problem is happening (if possible). So far, I’m not entirely sure what could be causing the trouble and I can’t reproduce it on my own test blog.

I’m glad Time Thief carried the ball here.
I am pretty low on computer literacy. As it is I’ll have to have my son read these posts and interpret the suggestions and request for information.I do not even know what Zemanta is.
