WordPress Email Setup and Google Apps page don't match
-
I am trying to work through the instructions for “Setting Up Email with Google Apps” (http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/google-apps-email/).
Step 6 says: “Once the account is set up, you will receive an email from Google and you’ll be taken to a login page for your new Google Apps account. Login with the information you just set up.”
Which I did.Step 7 says: “When Google asks you to verify domain ownership, you can choose to use a CNAME record.”
However, the page I come to does not ask that.I cannot upload a screen shot here and since you cannot log in to the same page I am at…the following text is what I get:
“Verify ownership
Verification statusNot Verified
There are several ways to prove to Google that you own http://nicholasgoebel.com/. Select the option that is easiest for you.
-Add a DNS record to your domain’s configuration You can use this option if you can sign in to your domain registrar or hosting provider and add a new DNS record.
-Link to your Google Analytics account You can use this option if your site already has a Google Analytics tracking code that uses the asynchronous snippet. You must be an administrator on the Analytics account.
-Upload an HTML file to your server You can choose this option if you can upload new files to your site.
-Add a meta tag to your site’s home page You can choose this option if you can edit your site’s HTML.
Instructions: (there is a drop down here that asks to choose the domain provider)”I chose “other” from the drop down, but that does not give me a verification code, but instead provides a text record for the DNS configuration.
So I am lost. Thanks for your help!
