WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR

  When I export my extended RSS file to copy to my blog to my computer through internet explorer all looks fine. When I copy and paste that file in Microsoft Word to then save to another hard drive, I am getting alot of these type messages.

  Am I doing something wrong or is the file copying to microsoft word in a funky manner? Are my Extended RSS exported copies invalid and if so what do I need to do different when copying and pasting my exported RSS to microsoft word?

  It’s probably the copying into Word that’s doing it. It appears to be trying to rework the URLs for some reason.

  I’d just use Notepad and make sure to save in either ANSI or UTF8 format. Those are hte formats that don’t include encoding.

  Hi Dr. Mike. I am not sure what ANSI or UTFB formats are Sir. I have downloaded the exported RSS eXtended File and opened it onto my desktop. Pops up as an icon. I copy and paste that to my second hard disc. What are your thoughts?

  I’d suggest you do exactly as Dr Mike has suggested and save it in Notepad instead of word. When you save it you can select the format.

  When you save a file, there should be a drop down menu labeled Encoding. That’s the option to choose ANSI or UTF8.

  Thank you for the specifics Dr. Mike. I have not noticed the drop down menu giving me the options of ANSI or UTFB. I will look a little closer Sir. Thanks again.
