WordPress failed to delete my website.
-
I chose to delete my website 0verhyped.wordpress.com, but WordPress hasn’t actually deleted it. Instead, they only removed access to it through the 0verhyped.com address, but the full website is still up and available if you simply type in 0verhyped.wordpress.com for the links. Not only that, the deletion DID remove my access to the website (I can’t even select its name for this form survey), so I can’t even change it or set it to private now, so it’s been left to linger in limbo in a screwed up state.
As far as I can tell, there is literally nothing I can do on my end because I can’t even access 0verhyped.wordpress.com from my account anymore, so it would seem like only a senior customer support representative with higher access would be capable of fixing my problem.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
And I don’t need help with friendlylending.wordpress.com. The form made me choose an address, and like I said, I CAN’T choose 0verhyped.wordpress.com anymore.

I have noticed a couple of other people over the last few weeks who went through the correct procedures to delete sites but all that happened was that they lost access whilst the sites remained live on the Interweb.
In both cases it needed intervention to fully delete the sites so I have added a “modlook” tag for Staff to investigate in due course.

Is there any chance a mod can restore access to my website? In light of this new information, it might be safer to just set my website to “private” if site deletion is a recurring problem at the time.

Hi there,
It sounds like you simply canceled the custom domain associated with 0verhyped.wordpress.com (0verhyped.com) and not in fact deleted the website.
In order to delete the site, you must first remove all upgrades – and you’ve done that successfully.
Now, if you want to permanently delete your site, please follow this guide:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/Please read the warnings and advice before deleting a site, as we can’t revert a site deletion for any reason.
If you want to hide your site instead, you can use the following guide to make your site private so only you and other members of the site can view it when logged in:

No, I did both. I had to remove my upgrades, and then I hit delete, and it said it was deleted, but it’s not. I literally can’t access 0verhyped.wordpress.com anymore so I can’t change the privacy settings or hit the delete a second time.
-
I checked and you’re right. There is history that you deleted the site, yet it is indeed still visible. Would you like for me to go ahead and delete the site, or would you like for me to add you back to the site so you can make it private?
I apologize for that glitch. I’ll look into that for you.
Thanks!

If you could just restore my access to 0verhyped.wordpress.com, that would be great. I’ll just play it safe and mark it as private.

Good call!
I have restored access to 0verhyped.wordpress.com for you.
To set your blog to private, go to Settings > Reading on your dashboard, and click the radio button next to I would like my site to be private, visible only to users I choose.
