WordPress follow button not updating

  My follow button on home page is stuck at ‘7’ when it should be at over 100. How to fix?

  just to confirm could you take a look here and follow the steps to see how many followers you have?

  take a look here and this should show you your followers.

  I checked my site stats and the WordPress followers are at 7 — which matches the “(WordPress logo) Following David Belisle” on the home page widget. But I also have 2 Email followers, and 117 ‘Social’ Followers (99 on Facebook and 18 on Twitter).

  Shouldn’t the total number of the “(WordPress logo) Following David Belisle” widget on the home page be the grand total of followers, which would be 126?

  Or is that “(WordPress logo) Following David Belisle” widget only for WordPress subscribers? … which begs the question, isn’t there a widget that includes ALL the followers of the page?

  Hey Dave,

  I’ve been doing some research and it looks like you can only show the number of WordPress.com followers. I have marked this for a moderator/staff member to confirm this with you though.

  Hi there,

  The WordPress.com follow button only shows the number of WordPress.com followers. The Follow Blog by email widget you have right above the button shows the total number of WordPress.com, email and social followers.

  Yes, I finally discovered that when I saw the 137 followers listed inside the widget button section. I didn’t see the box to check before … so, now it’s checked, I have the “137” (social) followers at least in text on the side bar … and — thankfully — now understand what the blue WordPress logo “Following David Belisle” widget is all about.
